Leituras dos media no contexto das bibliotecas escolares

Abstract

Num mundo profundamente mediatizado (Couldry & Hepp, 2017), caracterizado pela interdependência entre praticamente todos os domínios da vida quotidiana e os media, em que estes marcam as dinâmicas e as relações sociais, é necessário (re)pensar a ação dos sujeitos e das instituições na mediação desse mundo. É nesta linha que trazemos para discussão o papel das bibliotecas escolares enquanto instituições mediadoras da realidade social dos alunos e enquanto agentes potencialmente promotores de leituras críticas dessa realidade, habitada e marcada pelos media. Tendo por base um estudo mais vasto sobre a Literacia Mediática nas Bibliotecas Escolares, este artigo tem como suporte um inquérito online respondido por 723 professores bibliotecários em 2019. Partindo de um recorte dos dados, pretende-se evidenciar o tipo de atividades relacionadas com as leituras dos media promovidas no contexto da biblioteca escolar, tendo como quadro de análise a Literacia para os Media. Os dados apontam para três abordagens principais: leituras dos media como objeto de análise crítica; leituras que usam os media como instrumento ou suporte; e práticas de leitura sem relação direta com os media.

In a deeply mediatized world (Couldry & Hepp, 2017), characterized by the interdependence between practically all areas of daily life and the media, in which they mark the dynamics and social relations, it is necessary to (re)think the action of subjects and institutions in the mediation of this world. In this regard we bring to discussion the role of school libraries as institutions mediating the social reality of students and as agents potentially promoting critical readings of that reality, inhabited and marked by the media. Based on a broader study on Media Literacy in School Libraries, this article is supported by an online survey answered by 723 library teachers in 2019. Based on a data cut-out, the aim is to highlight the type of activities related to media readings promoted in the context of the school library, with Media Literacy as the framework for analysis. The data point to three main approaches: reading the media as an object of critical analysis; readings that use the media as an instrument or support; and reading practices without a direct relationship with the media.
