Progressão de carreira e a mulher: a perspetiva dos contabilistas certificados

Abstract

Ao longo dos tempos a mulher foi conseguindo ultrapassar muitos dos entraves existentes no acesso à profissão de contabilista, de modo que fossem tratadas da mesma forma que os homens e que conseguissem ter acesso às mesmas oportunidades. Porém, ainda existe um caminho a percorrer que poderá afetar a progressão da carreira das mulheres contabilistas. Desta forma, com este estudo, pretende-se compreender os fatores que influenciam, potenciam ou limitam o desenvolvimento da carreira das mulheres, bem como analisar se a maternidade constitui uma condicionante para o exercício da profissão de contabilista e na aspiração a cargos superiores. De modo a alcançar estes objetivos, foram realizadas 20 entrevistas semiestruturadas a contabilistas certificados do sexo masculino e feminino que exercem atualmente a profissão. Nesse sentido, foi possível concluir que a maternidade e as obrigações familiares limitam a progressão da carreira das mulheres e a sua possível ascensão a cargos de topo, uma vez que terão maior dificuldade em conciliar a vida profissional com a pessoal, sendo que poderá dificultar a progressão na carreira. Adicionalmente, será necessário o entendimento por parte da entidade patronal da opção, por parte da mulher, de querer ou não ter filhos, pelo que não deverá ser um facto que limite a ascensão a cargos de topo dentro das organizações ou até mesmo no processo de contratação.

In this way, with this study, it is intended to understand the factors that influence, enhance, or limit the development of women's career, as well as analyze whether motherhood constitutes a condition for the exercise of the accounting profession and in the aspiration to higher positions. In order to achieve these objectives, twenty-eight semi-structured interviews were carried out with male and female certified accountants and accountants who currently exercise the profession. In this sense, it was possible to conclude that motherhood and family obligations limit women's career progression and their possible ascension to top positions, since they will have greater difficulty in reconciling professional and personal lives, which may make it difficult to Career Development. Additionally, it will be necessary for the employer to understand the option, on the part of the woman, of wanting or not to have children, so it should not be a factor that limits the ascension to top positions within organizations or even in the process of hiring.
