O mundo da tradução na Dokutech Translations

Abstract

No presente relatório descreve-se a experiência adquirida durante o estágio curricular na empresa de tradução Dokutech Translations, no âmbito do Mestrado em Tradução e Comunicação Multilingue da Universidade do Minho. A realização de traduções, principalmente, de textos técnicos relativos a manuais de instruções, proporcionou-me a oportunidade de conhecer a fundo as particularidades deste género textual, nomeadamente ao nível do seu caráter terminológico e linguístico. Assim, este relatório analisa todo o trabalho desenvolvido durante o estágio realizado e descreve ao pormenor a metodologia de trabalho da entidade acolhedora, os processos de tradução aplicados, as ferramentas de Tradução Assistida por Computador (TAC) utilizadas e as tarefas realizadas. O grande número de textos trabalhados proporcionou o contacto com diferentes problemas específicos da tradução, tendo-se sistematizado a abordagem relativamente aos mesmos.

This report describes the experience acquired during the curricular internship at the translation company Dokutech Translations, as part of the Master in Translation and Multilingual Communication of Universidade do Minho. The translation of mainly technical texts related to instruction manuals allowed for an increased knowledge of some particularities of these texts, specifically in terms of their essentially terminological character and type of language. As such, this report analyses all the work developed during the internship and describes the working methodology of the company, the translation processes applied, the Computer Assisted Translation tools used, and the tasks performed. The large number of texts worked on provided the opportunity to come into contact with different specific translation problems, which have been systematized here.
