Lignin, methods of extraction and uses thereof

Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a light-brown lignin, pref-erably alkaline lignin, with sweet and weak woody odour, and ultraviolet protection activity. The present disclosure also relates to an alkaline method of extracting said lignin from sugarcane bagasse using mild conditions, the lignin, preferably alkaline lignin, obtained by the method of the present disclosure also has a high purity. The lignin of the present disclosure may be used as thermoplastic and ther-mosetting, namely for the production of a film, a packaging a coating.
