Explorar e conhecer materiais naturais e a natureza em creche e jardim de infância

Abstract

O presente relatório de estágio surgiu no âmbito da Prática de Ensino Supervisionado do Mestrado em Educação Pré-Escolar na Universidade do Minho. O conteúdo expresso no presente relatório aborda alguns temas relativos à aprendizagem ativa, ao contacto com materiais naturais e estimulação dos cinco sentidos (Creche), à abordagem das Ciências e à área de conteúdo do Conhecimento do Mundo em Educação Pré-Escolar, e relata as vivências, o desenvolvimento, a avaliação dos projetos de intervenção pedagógica, desenvolvidos nos contextos onde foram realizadas as intervenções. Só após uma observação atenta e minuciosa dos grupos de crianças e uma reflexão profunda sobre os seus interesses e necessidades, consegui reunir as informações necessárias para o desenho dos projetos e para a sua implementação. Através de uma observação participante, recolhi dados com auxílio de diversas técnicas e instrumentos, e desenhei um projeto com base na observação sistemática das crianças, cujo desenvolvimento foi suportado com base na abordagem da metodologia de investigação-ação. Assim, a reflexão sobre a ação, acompanhou toda a implementação dos projetos. Tendo observado um enorme interesse demonstrado pelo grupo de crianças de Creche pelos materiais naturais e pelas áreas existentes na sala de atividades, o meu foco de intervenção foi promover a criação de oportunidades para as crianças explorarem, descobrirem e manipularem livremente diversos materiais naturais, cheirando-os, sentindo as suas diferentes texturas, observando as suas cores e formatos, estando desta forma a estimular o desenvolvimento de alguns dos cinco sentidos e a usufruir de experiências enriquecedoras. Relativamente ao grupo de crianças do Jardim de Infância, tendo observado que demonstrou um enorme interesse pela “Área das Ciências”, pretendi criar oportunidades de aprendizagem em torno das ciências, promovendo a exploração e a descoberta dos materiais, objetos e de determinados fenómenos da natureza simples e significativos, pelas crianças. Assim, o meu foco de intervenção, foi promover a criação de oportunidades e descobertas acerca de alguns fenómenos do dia a dia, visando o alargamento do seu conhecimento e brincadeiras, lançando bases da estruturação do seu pensamento científico. Sendo as crianças naturalmente curiosas, gostam de observar e interpretar a natureza, promover o seu contato precoce e intencional com a natureza e as ciências, alimenta a sua curiosidade e o seu interesse pelo ambiente que as envolve e favorecerá mais tarde a sua aprendizagem e literacia científica. Com o desenvolvimento destes projetos posso concluir que o contacto precoce com os materiais naturais e as ciências, permite às crianças despertarem a sua curiosidade inata de explorar o mundo que as rodeia.

This internship report emerged within the framework of the Supervised Teaching Practice of the Master`s degree in Pre-School Education at the University of Minho. The content expressed in this report addresses some topics relating to active learning contact with natural materials and stimulation of the five senses (Nursery), the science approach and the content area of World Knowledge in Preschool Education, and reports on experiences, development, evaluation intervention projects, developed in the contexts where the interventions were carried out. Only after careful and thorough observation of the children's groups and a deep reflection on their interests and needs, I was able to gather the necessary information for the design of the projects and for its implementation. Through participant observation, I collected data with the aid of various techniques and instruments, and designed a project based on systematic observation of the children, whose development was supported on the basis of the action research methodology approach. Thus, the reflection on the action, accompanied de entire the implementation of the projects. Having observed a huge interest shown by the group of children of nursery for the natural materials and existing areas in the activity room, my focus was to promote the creation of opportunities for children to explore, discover and manipulate freely several natural materials, smelling them, feeling their different textures, observing their colors and shapes, thus stimulating the development of some of five senses and to enjoy enriching experiences. Regarding the group of children in kindergarten, having observed that it showed a huge interest in the “Area of Science”, I wanted to create learning opportunities about science, promoting the exploration and discovery of materials, objects, and certain simple and significant phenomena of nature by children. Thus, my focus of intervention was to promote the creation of opportunities and discovery about of some day-to-day phenomena, aiming at the expansion of their knowledge and games, laying basis for the structuring of their scientific thinking. Being naturally curious children, they like to observe and interpret nature, promote their early and intentional contact with nature and the sciences, feeds their curiosity and their interest in the environment that surrounds them and will later favor their learning and scientific literacy. With the development of these projects I can conclude that early contact with natural materials and sciences allows children to awaken their innate curiosity to explore the world around them.
