Pensando o ensino do conceito de género na disciplina de História: as ideias dos estudantes acerca dos conceitos de mudança e permanência no papel da mulher em Portugal durante o século XX

Abstract

O presente relatório de estágio insere-se na Unidade Curricular de Estágio Profissional do 2.º ano do Mestrado em Ensino de História no 3.º ciclo do Ensino Básico e no Ensino Secundário, da Universidade do Minho. Enquadra-se na componente de prática letiva, numa escola secundária do concelho de Braga, com estudantes de uma turma com 10 estudantes, 6 do género masculino e 4 do género feminino, do ensino recorrente do 12.º ano de escolaridade. O principal objetivo do seguinte estudo é compreender como é que os estudantes pensam a mudança e a permanência no papel da mulher portuguesa ao longo do século XX em três áreas: os direitos políticos e luta feminista, o trabalho feminino e a sua presença no exército e a vida familiar e o direito ao lazer. Este estudo é de caracter qualitativo, descritivo, interpretativo e quantitativo e assenta nas ideias prévias dos estudantes que foram recolhidas antes do planeamento da lecionação das aulas. As ideias dos estudantes foram analisadas segundo a proposta da Grounded Theory, em linha com os estudos de investigação em Educação Histórica. Este estudo de investigação mostrou que a maioria dos estudantes do 12º ano de escolaridade que nele participaram interpreta as mudanças no papel da mulher ao longo do século XX em Portugal de forma positiva, com uma tendência para interpretar a mudança história como um processo linear e evolutivo. As mudanças foram identificadas nas áreas dos direitos políticos e direitos laborais e acesso a mais funções e cargos no mercado de trabalho. Ao mesmo tempo, os estudantes interpretaram a permanência como fatores negativos e barreiras que continuaram a existir ao longo da passagem do século XX, estando algumas ainda presentes na atualidade. A maior parte das permanências identificadas pelos estudantes prende-se com a desigualdade salarial e com o papel de cuidadora que num contexto familiar ainda é desempenhado principalmente pelas mulheres. Concluindo, os estudantes reconheceram mudanças positivas nos papéis e oportunidades para as mulheres ao longo do século XX em Portugal. No entanto, também reconheceram permanências e barreiras, especialmente relacionadas com as desigualdades de género e os papéis de cuidado, que continuam a persistir nos tempos atuais.

This internship report is part of the Professional Internship Course in the 2nd year of the Master's in History Teaching for the 3rd cycle of Basic Education and Secondary Education at the University of Minho. It is part of the teaching practice component, conducted in a secondary school located in the municipality of Braga. The school has a class of 10 students, with 6 male and 4 female students, from the 12th grade recurring program. The main objective of this study is to understand how students perceive the changes and continuities in the role of Portuguese women throughout the 20th century in three areas: political rights and feminist struggle, women's work and their presence in the army, and family life and the right to leisure. This study adopts a qualitative, descriptive, interpretive, and quantitative approach, based on the students' prior ideas collected before planning the lessons. The students' ideas were analysed using the Grounded Theory proposal, in line with research studies in Historical Education. This research study revealed that the majority of 12th-grade students who participated in it interpreted the changes in the role of women throughout the 20th century in Portugal in a positive light, with a tendency to view historical change as a linear and evolutionary process. The changes were identified in areas such as political rights, labour rights, and increased access to various positions and roles in the job market. Simultaneously, the students perceived continuity as negative factors and barriers that persisted throughout the 20th century, with some still present in the present time. Most of the continuities identified by the students were related to issues of wage inequality and the caregiving role, which is still predominantly performed by women within a family context. In summary, the students recognized positive changes in the roles and opportunities for women over the course of the 20th century in Portugal. However, they also acknowledged the continuity of certain negative aspects and barriers, particularly related to gender inequalities and caregiving roles, continued to persist even in contemporary times.
