Although numerous theories of leadership have been proposed over time, the understanding and conceptualisation of potential leadership remain a gap in current research. Moreover, the majority of leadership studies have been conducted in Western contexts, neglecting the diverse cultural differences of other regions, such as the Middle East. This research addresses these research gaps by investigating the Egyptian context and contributing to the understanding of what defines potential leaders in the present era, with a specific focus on the employees from the millennial generation. Employing a multilevel analysis, this thesis explores the individual, organisational and social variables influencing Egyptian Millennial Leadership Potential (MLP). The research utilises a mixed-methods approach, incorporating semi-structured interviews to qualitatively investigate MLP and subsequently develop a concise measurement encompassing five sub-dimensions: Agility, Talent Catalyst, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal and Entrepreneurial. Thus, the objective of this thesis is threefold: firstly, to uncover the essence of Millennial Leadership Potential through qualitative exploration, secondly, to construct a practical measurement scale based on the qualitative findings, and finally, to quantitatively examine the impact of Emotional Intelligence, Talent Management and Social Media Use on predicting MLP in Egyptian professionals working in Multinational Companies (MNCs). The results of the study underline the significant role of Emotional Intelligence in shaping MLP, the collective importance of implementing Talent Management practices and the relevance of Social Media Use in the workplace. Furthermore, the study reveals a complex interplay between these variables, demonstrating a serial mediation relationship. Specifically, organisational Talent Management practices contribute to the development of employees' Emotional Intelligence, positively influencing their use of social media at work, which, in turn, impacts their potential as leaders. The empirical evidence presented in this study contributes to the literature body of knowledge by shedding light on various predictors influencing Millennial Leadership Potential at work. Additionally, the research provides a clear and practical measurement of MLP that can be applied both in practice and research frameworks.por
