Changes in executive functions may be associated with problematic eating behaviors and consequent weight gain. This investigation aims to explore if the relationship between problematic eating behavior and difficulties in working memory and inhibitory control varies by weight and adolescent population (community versus clinic) and if the relationship between emotional regulation difficulties and eating behaviors varies according to executive functions. In this cross-sectional study, 31 adolescents (clinical sample) and 148 (community sample) between 13 and 18 years old were evaluated using online self-report questionnaires. Difference tests were performed, correlations and moderation models were explored. The results indicate that there are no significant differences between the Body Mass Index (BMI) percentiles at the level of executive functions, in both samples. In the community sample, difficulties in executive functions are strongly associated (rs > .47) with more grazing. This sample reveals the moderating role of working memory in the relationship between emotional regulation difficulties and grazing behavior (R² = 0.23). Future studies may explore causal relationships between executive functioning (even with other functions) and grazing, and how these change over time.por
