Currículo e educação para a cidadania na Guiné-Bissau

Abstract

A cidadania e uma questäo emergente que tern granjeado uma significativa centralidade polItica e social, sobretudo em contextos onde o baixo nIvel de vida das populaçoes e uma questao socialmente preocupante corn evidentes reflexos nas camadas mais vulneráveis, em particular, as mulheres e as criancas. Embora esta situaçao seja transversal a vários quadrantes sociais, ela é particularmente visIvel na area da educacao, onde Os efeitos se fazem sentir de forma mais intensa e prolongada. Na Guiné-Bissau, esta é uma realidade observável hoje, pesem ernbora as iniciativas levadas a cabo no setor da educacäo, tais como a promocão do acesso a escola, o alargamento da escolaridade obrigatôria para nove anos e a melhoria da rede escolar nacional. Assim se compreende a relevância da Educacao para a Cidadania (EC), sobretudo se incidir em dimensôes como aprender a ser, a estar, a relacionar-se, a participar e a decidir, contribuindo, assim, para a formacão de cidadäos conhecedores, responsãveis e interventivos em termos individuais, comunitários e sociais. Este texto apresenta algumas reflexöes sobre a importancia do currIculo na EC, no quadro da reforma educativa em curso na Guiné-Bissau. Em nossa opinião, o curriculo da EC deve organizar-se em torno de três eixos estruturantes - o individual, o relacional e o comunitário -, essenciais para o desenvolvimento de capacidades, competências e atitude que prepararem os jovens para uma efetiva integraçao na sociedade.

Citizenship is an emerging issue that has a significant social and political centrality, especially in contexts where the low level of living conditions is an issue with obvious consequences among the most vulnerable, in particular women and children. Although this situation affects various social quarters, it is particularly visible in education, in which the effects are felt more intense and prolonged. In Guinea-Bissau, this is an observable reality today, despite the initiatives undertaken in the education sector, such as the promotion of access to school, the extension of compulsory schooling to nine years and the improvement of the national school network. The relevance of education for citizenship (EC) is therefore understandable, especially if one focus on dimensions such as learning to be, to relate with others, to participate and to decide, thus contributing to the formation of citizens knowledgeable, responsible and able to intervene in individual, social and community terms. This text presents thoughts on the importance of the curriculum of the EC in the framework of the ongoing educational reform in Guinea-Bissau. We argue that the curriculum of the EC should be organised around three fundamental axes - the individual, the community and relational - essential to the development of capacities, skills and attitudes thaLprepare young people for an effective integration into society.
