Introdução [a "A Comunicação pública da arte"]

Abstract

The present book is based on a research project entitled Public Communication of Art: the case of local and global art museums, funded by Foundation for Science and Technology, Lisbon. Such research is revealed, in its objectives, scientific questions and technologies, in this book’s Part I, entitled 'What Theory and Methodology for Museum Studies?'. The considered perspective is an illustration of what is understood as Open Research, inspired in some way in the Opera Aperta idea of Umberto Eco, and also or in the attitude underlying the global availability of free and modifiable software such as open source, which provoked a boom in planetary creativity. The main problems and the team that contributed to this collective work are included in Part II ‘Art Worlds af Univrses / metaverss within th museum’.
