After a supervised pedagogical intervention implemented in the subject of History in an 8th grade class in a school in the municipality of Braga, as part of the internship of the Master's Degree in History Teaching in the 3rd cycle of Basic Education and Secondary Education, an empirical study was carried out based on data collection carried out at different times. This intervention had as its curricular context the sub-theme "Protestant Reformation and the Catholic Reformation and Counter-Reformation", with the concept of historical change as the main focus. The main question guiding this intervention-research was: how do students perceive the process of historical change in relation to the Reformation and Counter-Reformation periods? The lessons planned and the activities carried out were based on the paradigm of constructivism and were guided by the “aula-oficina” model. The aim was to provide students with the tools they needed to constantly work critically with sources, making them part of the process of building their own historical knowledge. Priority was also given to activities and tasks of a more collaborative nature, so that young people could benefit from the dynamic of sharing and mutual help that can and should be adjacent to the teaching-learning process. Thus, the practice developed also applied the principles associated with the Action Research methodology, and the data obtained and the respective analysis and reflection were treated treated through quantitative method, mainly in terms of categorizing the students' ideas. Throughout the process and in the final analysis, it was possible to see a general progression in the students' ideas about the concept of change, albeit at different levels. It was also possible to see a development of skills in the analysis and problematization of sources, as a result, it is believed, of the strategies developed in the light of the “aula-oficina” model. |
