Uso criativo do metrónomo no ensino especializado da percussão

Abstract

O presente trabalho assinala a etapa final para a conclusão da unidade curricular Estágio Profissional, inserida no segundo e derradeiro ano do curso de Mestrado em Ensino da Música da Universidade do Minho. É um relatório que compila informação disponível acerca do metrónomo, as suas diferentes formas e contextos de utilização, a minha experiência de lecionação com uma classe de percussão numa instituição de ensino artístico e a realização de um projeto de investigação-ação relacionado com o uso do metrónomo no contexto da prática instrumental. Este trabalho intitula-se de Uso Criativo do Metrónomo no Ensino Especializado da Percussão e foca-se na forma inventiva como este dispositivo pode ser utilizado durante o estudo de um instrumento musical – em particular, nos instrumentos de percussão – e de como tal utilização pode ser benéfica na aquisição/melhoramento de competências rítmicas. Esta intervenção contou com a realização de exercícios em ordem crescente de complexidade, de forma a introduzir gradualmente os alunos a novas formas de abordar o estudo com o metrónomo. Os exercícios foram adaptados aos diferentes ciclos escolares, incluindo assim toda a classe desde a iniciação musical até ao ensino secundário. Foram ainda realizados dois questionários – em momentos diferentes da intervenção – de forma a avaliar, numa primeira fase, quais os hábitos dos alunos na utilização do metrónomo em contexto da prática instrumental e, numa segunda fase, avaliar a receção por parte dos alunos às novas práticas. Com a realização deste projeto verifica-se que estas práticas são benéficas para o desenvolvimento de competências rítmicas dos estudantes e influencia positivamente os seus índices motivacionais ao quebrar com os hábitos do seu uso tradicional.

This work marks the final stage for the completion of the Professional Internship curricular unit, inserted in the second and final year of the Master's course in Music Teaching at the University of Minho. It's a report that compiles available information about the metronome, its different ways and contexts of usage, my teaching experience with a percussion class in an artistic education institution and the realization of an action-research project related to the use of the metronome in the context of instrumental practice. This work is entitled Creative Use of the Metronome in the Specialized Teaching of Percussion and focuses on the inventive way in which this device can be used during the study of a musical instrument – percussion instruments in particular – and how such use can be beneficial in the acquisation/improvement of rhythmic skills. This intervention included exercises in ascending order of complexity, in order to gradually introduce students to new ways of approaching the study with the metronome. The exercises were adapted to different school cycles, thus including the entire class from first grade till twelveth grade. Two questionnaires were also carried out – each one at a different phase of the intervention - in order to, in a first phase, assess what were the students' habits in using the metronome in the context of instrumental practice and, in a second phase, to assess the students' reception to the new practices. With the completion of this project, it is verified that these practices are beneficial for the development of students' rhythmic skills and a positive influence in their motivational indexes by breaking with the habit from it's traditional use.
