| dc.description.abstract | The textile industry is one of the most important sectors in the Portuguese economy, but it is also one of the sectors that generates the greatest amount of waste. Currently, the textile market has progressed in order to adapt to the demands that are constantly appearing by adopting more sustainable production strategies, while preserving product quality and satisfying consumer demands. The work carried out arose from the need of the company Têxteis Adalberto SA to obtain designs printed in conventional printing with a natural pigment without the need to go to the thermofixer, going only through drying in the mansard and crosslinking in the ramola, thus replacing the traditional high temperature crosslinking binders and fixers with low-temperature ones. As part of this project, three recipes for printing pastes were proposed, one of which was already their usual recipe, and two which were extrinsic to the company, with different binders and fixatives. After the different pastes were formulated and then applied by conventional printing on 100% CO fabric, the samples were thermofixed at different temperatures (130ºC and 160ºC) and one of each paste without thermofixing. Quality control tests were then carried out, simulating print durability and color transfer after printing. Subsequently, these samples were also characterized by FTIR, contact angle and UV-vis, and paste 2 (Recipe suggested by ADI Company, Barcelona, Spain, supplier of chemicals to the textile markets) was chosen for the final objective. Gas consumption was determined, and a financial study was carried out for the company using the vaporizer at 150ºC or the ram at 100ºC or 130ºC, in order to achieve the purpose of this project, not to go through the vaporizer and end up in the ram, with the best consumption and costs being in the ram with a temperature of 130ºC. For the final sample printed on 97% cotton (CO) and 3% polyamide (PA) mesh with paste 2, without thermofixation, quality control tests were carried out: assessment of fastness to washing, water, acid sweat and alkaline sweat, friction and durability of the print to washing and the sample was also characterized by FTIR, contact angle and UV-vis. Overall, the use of paste 2 in the final print without the use of a steamer and with direct entry into the roll has brought advantages in final consumption for the company. | por |
