O espaço exterior como promotor do desenvolvimento e aprendizagem das crianças na Educação Básica

Abstract

O presente relatório de estágio integra a componente de formação e avaliação do Mestrado em Educação Pré-Escolar e Ensino do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico, do Instituto de Educação da Universidade do Minho, durante o ano letivo de 2022/2023. O estágio decorreu em dois contextos distintos: no primeiro semestre concretizou-se numa sala de Educação Pré-Escolar e no segundo semestre, numa turma de 3.º ano do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico. No sentido de desenvolver um projeto assente numa prática reflexiva, considerou-se que a metodologia de Investigação-Ação é aquela cujas características dos procedimentos e pressupostos seriam pertinentes para o desenvolvimento deste estudo. O principal objetivo deste relatório é proporcionar uma compreensão mais aprofundada das potencialidades do espaço exterior como espaço de desenvolvimento e aprendizagem nos dois contextos educativos, onde as crianças se envolveram ativa e colaborativamente na construção do conhecimento. Através da análise e reflexão dos dados recolhidos, verificou-se que as atividades desenvolvidas no espaço exterior se tornaram uma mais-valia, uma vez que as crianças tiveram a oportunidade de trabalhar e consolidar conteúdos curriculares de forma dinâmica, lúdica, desafiante e articulada, assumindo uma postura ativa e participativa. Ademais, verificou-se que este espaço propiciou a diversificação e o enriquecimento das atividades educativas, promovendo um sentimento de bem-estar e felicidade nas crianças e, ainda, favoreceu o brincar. Para sustentar a análise e fundamentação dos dados recorreu-se a algumas técnicas e instrumentos de recolha de dados. Com este projeto, concluiu-se que no estágio em contexto de Educação Pré-Escolar, as crianças demonstraram ser mais criativas, autónomas, curiosas, felizes e saudáveis do que os alunos do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico, o que pode estar relacionado com o facto de o primeiro contexto valorizar e privilegiar o desenvolvimento e aprendizagem das crianças no espaço exterior, contrariamente, ao segundo contexto, em que não lhes eram proporcionadas experiências de aprendizagem no exterior. Assim, denota-se o beneficio que o espaço exterior tem para as crianças, devendo, por isso, estar mais presente no quotidiano de ambos os contextos.

This internship report is part of the training and assessment component of the Master's Degree in Pre-School Education and Teaching of the Primary School at the Institute of Education of the University of Minho, during the 2022/2023 academic year. The internship took place in two different contexts: in the first semester it took place in a Pre-School Education and in the second semester, in a 3rd year class of the Primary School. In order to develop a project based on reflective practice, the Action Research methodology was considered to be the one whose procedural characteristics and assumptions would be pertinent to the development of this study. The main aim of this report is to provide a deeper understanding of the potential of the outdoor space as a space for development and learning in the two educational contexts, where the children were actively and collaboratively involved in the construction of knowledge. Through the analysis and reflection of the data collected, it was found that the activities developed in the outdoor space became an asset, since the children had the opportunity to work on and consolidate curricular content in a dynamic, playful, challenging and articulated way, taking an active and participatory stance. In addition, it was found that this space allowed for the diversification and enrichment of educational activities, promoting a feeling of well-being and happiness in the children, as well as encouraging play. A number of data collection techniques and instruments were used to support the analysis and substantiation of the data. With this project, it was concluded that during the internship in the Pre-School context, the children proved to be more creative, autonomous, curious, happy and healthy than the students in the Primary School, which may be related to the fact that the first context valued and prioritized the children's development and learning in the outdoor space, unlike the second context, in which they were not provided with outdoor learning experiences. This shows the benefit that the outdoors has for children and that it should therefore be more present in the daily lives of both settings.
