The present internship report reflects the implementation of a pedagogical intervention and research project, carried out within the scope of the Internship Curricular Unit, in the second year of the Master's Degree in Pre-School Education and Teaching of the 1.st Cycle of Basic Education, at the University of Minho. The main objective of the research was to understand how a practical approach to Natural Sciences can support the development of environmental awareness in children in Pre-School and the 1.st Cycle of Basic Education. Through the Action Research methodology, the project followed a continuous cycle of planning, action, observation, and reflection, which allowed the strategies to be adjusted to the needs of each educational context, enabling children to become protagonists of their own learning process. They were encouraged to formulate hypotheses, test ideas, and construct knowledge through hands-on experiences. Pedagogical and research objectives were defined, and data were collected through direct and participant observation, photographic records, and audio recordings. Subsequently, criteria and categories were established for the analysis of the collected information. The results show that carrying out practical activities in Natural Sciences supports meaning-making and learning by stimulating moments of dialogue and reflection. This approach proved effective in fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and an investigative spirit, contributing to more meaningful learning and the development of environmental awareness from the early years of schooling. Throughout this journey, it was possible to deepen and integrate new theoretical and pedagogical knowledge into professional practice, reinforcing the importance of planning, reflection, and continuous investment in teacher education.por
