This work was developed with the purpose of study the variables and implementation of improvements in the pad printing process in Delphi Automotive Systems, in Braga, within the dissertation of the master’s degree in Polymer Engineering. The main purpose was the elimination or reduction of major defects associated to the pad printing process. To be able to avoid the waste associated to the products and promote better printing process. Pad printing process is a printing process that allows printing on substrates where other printing techniques show limitations or cannot be used at all. This printing technique allows the transfer of 2D images onto 3D objects. On an early stage of this project we have collected information from documents, articles and books related to the theme of the study. We have pointed out the main defects associated to the process, in order to increase the efficiency of the process by introducing improvements and innovations. Then, we have analyzed the influence of the variables of the process, such as cliché pad, substratum and others. As we implemented the project we have tried to improve and expand the study, namely by means of a better changeover definition, taking into consideration possible changes in the way the ink is prepared. The major defects of pad printing parts allowed to conduct a various tests in order to counter them. Concluding that the antistatic pads are more effective eliminating static then the standard pads, in the case of a thin type of printing the depth reduction of cliché improve the quality of the final impression, depending on ink the adhesion to the substratum is different and there is also a curing time that can be reduced. Over this dissertation we will explain all the steps of the study such as some of the knowledge we have acquired on pad printing.por
